Sendrey Vineyards

History
Since 1800, the Claverie family has been producing Sauternes on the same estate.
Originating from a long line of sons, the family gave its name to the hamlet of Les Claveries, which rises to about 75 metres above sea level in the commune of Fargues. They managed the vineyard until the early 20th century.
At that time, Mlle Claverie, the last heiress of the dynasty, married Mr Duron, himself a winegrower. He brought his expertise to the estate and named it “Cru Haut-Claverie.”
In 1930, my grandfather Mr Pierre Sendrey married Mlle Duron and took over the property, almost entirely renewing the vineyard.
In 1965, his two sons Michel and Bernard became joint owners and renamed the estate “Domaine du Haut-Claverie.” They expanded its surface area to reach its current size.
In 1990, after studying at the Blanquefort Agricultural College and completing several years of training on the estate, I became manager of the newly created S.C.E.A. Frères et Fils.
It was also at that time that we adopted the name “Château Haut-Claverie.”
I must not forget my mother and my wife, Marie-Christine, who have both taken — and continue to take — an active part in vineyard work.
We strive to preserve our ancestral traditions while enriching them with new techniques.
Today, the time has come for my wife and me to hand over to our sons, Pascal and Loïc, who will continue the family legacy and ensure the future of the estate.
